Philippe Courtet is a professor of psychiatry at the University of Montpellier and head of the department of emergency psychiatry and suicide attempts at the University Hospital of Montpellier (France). He directs the Chair of excellence in suicide prevention of the Fundamental Foundation. He directs the "vulnerability of suicidal behavior" research group at INSERM. His areas of interest involve vulnerability to suicidal behavior in patients with mood disorders, focusing on genomics, brain imaging, and social pain research. It is now implementing projects using connected health tools for the evaluation and management of patients with suicidal risk.
Professor Courtet is president of the "suicide" working group of the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry, former president of the French Association of Biological Psychiatry and Neuropsychopharmacology. He is a member of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA) and the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP).
He has published 299 articles in peer-reviewed journals, numerous book chapters. He has been the editor of three books on suicidal behavior
